How to Do a Letter to Confirm Received Resume
How to Do a Letter to Confirm Received ResumeYou can do this step of the resume writing process on your own or you can ask a friend to do it for you. There are no shortcuts or extra work that is involved with doing it yourself, but there are some small ways that can help you avoid an embarrassing mistake or two while doing it.In fact, when you send out letters of acceptance letters, the majority of them will include a form of the enclosed resume and are usually well prepared to make sure that everything is sent off properly. This is true even if you are not sending an envelope with it. A simple fill-in form at the bottom of the back of the envelope will make it easy for the company to get in touch with you with any information that they require. With a few exceptions, most different companies send out a standard form for all their job offers. This is where you put in your information like name, address, phone number, work history, education and a short note about why you are being con sidered for a job.You should be aware that some employers might include a second form that asks for your email or cell phone and some employers even send emails or respond by email. While you should include both methods in your form, make sure that you have an email address on your form. Many people choose to get someone else to fill in the other details on their resume. In this case, you will need to use a service that will be able to take care of all the details including but not limited to your address, email, cell phone and fax.To make sure that everything goes smoothly, try to think of it as a two way letter. If you are copying and pasting from the back of the letter, make sure that you do not hit the wrong key or send the form with all of the wrong information. While a handwritten letter is not always perfect, it is easier than using a word processor and you can go back and edit as needed.Another thing to consider when writing a letter to confirm received resume is the name of the company that sent it. While you can sometimes just leave it as 'Recruitment Agency' without any reason, most companies prefer to be called by their name. In some cases, if you have contacted the company personally, they might be fine with just the name.If you are not using the service of a friend, you should include an email address on your letter of acceptance. Email is usually a good way to let the company know that you would like to be contacted further for more information about the job that you were originally submitting. You might also want to include a phone number in your letter, depending on how many companies you are reaching out to. Most companies are fine with receiving a phone call, so sending a voice mail is also usually okay.If you are going to send a letter, you should ensure that you get the word out to everyone that you know. When you send a letter to confirm received resume, the best way to send it is to have it posted somewhere where others who are interested in the same job can read it.Another option is to give away your letter to whoever will listen. Most people do not realize that there are places that will put your letter up for free or at least have it at the back of the newspaper or on the internet, in addition to having it mailed to them.Just be sure that the person receiving the letter will follow instructions to get it back to you. It may seem silly to take the extra step, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

C Space Look A Little Differently To Attract & Recruit Brighter, Better Talent
C Space: Look a Little Differently to Attract & Recruit Brighter, Better Talent Any recruitment problem is a business problem, make no bones about it. Talent are the life blood of growing companies and so often, how firms recruit is so simply ignored. Great talent means great enterprise, so investing in the process, is investing within the enterprise. It seems apparent, however not in practise. More apt and dear for small to medium rising businesses, the place errors actually value, the pressureâs on to get it right first time! Hereâs how C Space did it. Replacing a pivotal top performing team member within the growing business growth group, with zero room for error allowed. The objective: To entice the very best calibre candidates (in the prime 1%, based mostly on C Spaceâs agreed competencies and traits) and select the most effective match. The downside: Their current recruitment process was not attracting the right kinds of candidates. The real problem: In brief communication. C Space were struggling to communicate the fact: how thrilling it is to work there and the explanations other top performing and high calibre individuals choose to be a part of the team. Itâs always fascinating to come back in as an objective get together and see the âobviousâ, but itâs the draw back to being so close, all of us free perspective. And it happens to everybody. Iâm continuously working with tremendous brilliant, specialists in advertising, branding, design, who understand the ability of branding and technique from a companyâs point of view, work on it daily, however fail to make use of these very same ideas in selling themselves. C Space had been specific in their briefing about attracting candidates and new talent who are the top 1%. Ambitious, sure, however extra importantly, if you want the highest 1% end result, your process, naturally, needs to be the top 1% in strategically attracting and qualifying such expertise. That means an impeccably well-rounded, thought-via recruitment course of reflecting your organisation and the cur rent want. The time, thought and sources you invest will be comparable to the end result you achieve. Itâs actually that easy. When I was doing my research on C Space, I could see their work with pioneering manufacturers, using video and presenting as a digitally targeted organisation helping massive manufacturers get in touch with their buyer base at grass roots level to achieve their sole deliverable âcustomer inspired developmentâ. The web site and model felt youthful, energetic, dynamic, a contemporary channel for giant brands to succeed in their actual prospects, understand their behaviours and develop strong relationships and brand loyalty as a result. What is at all times fascinating to me, is the very innovative thinking and as much as the minute tools they use for their clients, was not getting used to draw and recruit new talent. The actual problem, was for C Space and is for all of us, in switching up our pondering. Getting out of our heads and into the mindset of t he folks you want to entice. Itâs a kin to increase the customer universe and beginning to answer questions like, within the C Space example, what's our definition of the highest 1% candidate for C Space, who is this person, what stage of their profession are they at, what are they on the lookout for profession and company wise, what on-line platforms do they use etc. Simply having a brainstorming session around questions like Who, What, Where, Why, When and How, will lead to additional clarity. From there, youâve got a quick, you simply reply it. In this occasion, something that was also very helpful, was in wanting on the particular person they needed to exchange and breakdown why he was successful at the role, what pure traits and approach does he have and utilizing that as materials to assemble this temporary. The problem, as it's for so many organisations, is that the traditional recruitment course of is ineffective and appears antiquated in most cases. People are inconceiv able to translate onto a 2 web page CV. Most people donât know tips on how to sell what they will do, even those that can write, often fail to do that well. To hire primarily based on interviews, when candidates aren't in a really unnatural state of affairs, making an attempt to answer inquiries to impress, not match, is totally flawed. No wonder fifty five% of current employed folks within the UK, got their function through someone they know. We donât belief the traditional recruitment course of, as a result of it doesnât work. Yet itâs regularly used across the board. The definition of madness comes to mind⦠With C Space, it was clear they wished a inventive thinker, entrepreneurial, an issue-solver, brilliant and passionate, a millennial and be excited and someone impressed by the probabilities of creating and rising an innovative enterprise on the front line. âBusiness Development Managerâ didnât seem to cut it and the a-typical job spec, was one-dimensional and fully centered on what C Space wished, not on what the candidate would get out of it. Judging by the preliminary responses and quality of CVâs the staff received, this didnât work for candidates either. Resulting from the team at C Spaceâs funding, brainstorming and re-considering and slightly prod from yours really, the team realised that their most used device for clients, video, was the one and finest approach to talk their energy and vibrancy to potential candidates. Spreading it across their online channels and really âreachingâ the proper individuals. See their fantastic video here, that is how itâs carried out: They also scrapped the usual 2 one-to-one interviews and CV fashion course of and we appeared a much more rounded and multi-dimensional evaluation day together with: A warm-up exercise 1-on-1 interviews based mostly on a ready temporary A group prioritisation train A group train fixing a challenge as a staff after which presenting again Q & A with the team Pub after all of it to say thanks! (very important) Excellent stuff, I would go one step additional to essentially convey this up to the following level, request an accompanying video from candidates with an software, to assist in the choice part. If you desire a multi-faceted, high-calibre candidate, youâve obtained to invest in the recruitment process to mirror who you might be as a company, as a group and sell sell sell. You have competitors whenever youâre aiming for one of the best and the brightest, so work for them. The finest candidates take the effort within the short-term, but are properly value it within the lengthy-time period. What Really Happens When You Lie On Your Resume
What Really Happens When You Lie On Your Resume What truly happens when you lie on your resume Try not to hazard your notoriety for a resume lie. Misrepresenting reality or through and through lying on resumes isnt abnormal, however that doesnt mean its a viable method to propel your career.According toMonsters 2019 State of the Recruiter survey,85% of enrollment specialists said that competitors overstate aptitudes and skills on their resumes. Not cool. Weve as of late finished our most recent recruiting round of eight individuals, says Dave Davis, CEO and employing director at computerized investigation organization Redfly. Our most recent round was a finished catastrophe. It took four months. Up-and-comer after applicant came in and were found to have lied on their resumes. Its equitable not justified, despite any potential benefits to lie on your resume, Davis says. Employing chiefs were not that gullible. A solitary inquiry is sufficient to get you out on a falsehood. It causes a shame and an ungainly circumstance for everybody in the room. What's more, once youve been gotten, youve destroyed your chance to get employed and harmed your notoriety. Those are the undeniable reasons not to lie on a resume. Here some others. You truly dont need to In the event that you dont have the specific aptitudes a business is searching for yet at the same time figure you could be a solid match, put forth the defense in your introductory letter and let the employing chief be the one to conclude whether to call you in. Recruiting chiefs are progressively open to individuals with transferable abilities nowadays, which means you dont need to fundamentally have direct involvement with a field to be utilized, says profession mentor Alex Simon. Let your accreditations represent themselves and make it understood youre ready to learn if vital. Its much better to concede that you dont know something, Davis concurs. Energy and enthusiasm to gain proficiency with your way into a position is a far more noteworthy quality than being a liar. Its the No. 1 quality I search for. Such a large number of competitors harm their odds. You wont get what you need Huge liessuch as made-up bosses, work titles and comprehensive dates of employmentget you skiped from thought. Littler falsehoods may go unnoticed, yet can land you in an impasse work, says Resume Deli CEO Joseph Terach. Over the long haul, that can hurt your activity fulfillment and be much more terrible for your profession. One of the greatest little lies work searcher can enlighten is regarding their profession objectives, Terach says. Most employment searchers dread the outcomes that genuineness would yield. For instance, the legit answer may be I dont need to ascend the company pecking order. I see myself staying in the job for which Im at present applying. In any case, numerous candidates rather state they need to accomplish a lot greater things. The explanation: Even however you may perform best in a consistent workplace and lean toward not to move higher, youre worried that conceding as much will be seen as an absence of aspiration or, far more detestable, apathy, Terach says. All things considered, bowing reality with regards to your vocation objectives is unjustifiable to you and your imminent boss. Expecting you get the position, in the end the hole between what you truly needed and what you said you needed will develop. Life is short, Terach says. Doing things not fit to you or your abilities is a misuse of something valuable. You most likely wont pull off it Odds are, youve got an online profile with your accreditations, supports and suggestions on it. From Fire to Water
From Fire to Water From Fire to Water From Fire to Water Indeed, even with the ongoing accident in costs, oil creation from eccentric developments, for example, shale or tight sandstone, has changed the business. Since 2008, when U.S. unrefined petroleum creation was 1,830 million barrels (lower than any year since 1947), the nation has become the biggest oil maker on the planet, with creation in the a year through October 2015 at an astounding 3,412 million barrels. The blend of flat penetrating and water powered breaking gets the acknowledgment for the greater part of that expansion. Be that as it may, the alleged fracking upset has had a drawback, which isn't notable to the overall population: the expanding cost of water for oilfield activities. As per information from the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and the Ground Water Protection Council, while the boring of a normal well requires around 250,000 gallons of new water, the pressure driven breaking of a well is considerably more water-concentrated, averaging about 2.5 million gallons water for each well. Quite a bit of this pressure driven cracking action occurs in districts with intense water deficiencies. Around 48 percent of U.S. wells are situated in extraordinary water pressure zones, where in excess of 80 percent accessible ground and surface water is as of now allotted for such uses as horticulture, power age, and human utilization. A few oil-delivering states expect included pressure constrained water supplies from future populace increment. The Eagle Ford development in south Texas is viewed as ground zero for fracking-related water issues. There are a huge number of wells in the Eagle Ford area, and they devour water at a rate about twofold the national normal. Exacerbating the issue is that 98 percent of the wells there are in zones with at any rate medium water pressure, and 28 percent are in extraordinary pressure regions. It bodes well that there would be a scramble for water in south Texas, however shockingly, water is additionally a bottleneck in the Bakken, in spite of its area in the wet and cold atmosphere of North Dakota. There, the difficulties are credited to an absence of passageways, constrained capacity stops, and allowing limitations. In oil and gas creation locales as differing as the Marcellus in Pennsylvania and the Monterey in California, water issues are a major concern. These water difficulties are beginning to altogether influence the primary concerns of oil makers, especially in the ebb and flow low-value condition. Treatment and reuse of flowback and created water is a promising choice, however is related with high water treatment costs. Freshwater gracefully for fracking has quickly become a multibillion dollar business with a few driving oilfield administrations organizations getting in the game. Freshwater obtainment can cost up to 3 pennies for each gallon in certain territories. The genuine wallet drainer, in any case, is transportation which can cost as much as 12 pennies for every gallon. Complete water expenses can along these lines reach as much as 15 pennies for each gallon, which works out to $6 per barrel of water or as much as $2 per barrel of oil created. It isnt simply the immediate expense to oil makers. Trucks are the workhorse of water transportation and shipping separations can be gigantic. Trucks bring along the normal issues of traffic, street harm, clamor, and mishaps, which make for troubled networks. While getting water is a cerebral pain for drillers, they additionally have available to them the methods for giving their own water. An innovation known as climatic water gathering can wring dampness from muggy air at a shockingly fast rate. Furthermore, however the innovation has gained notoriety for being vitality concentrated, oil creation locales frequently have close by fuel that they cannot useand in fact, essentially consume (flare) off. By outfitting flammable gas that is currently regularly just flared off, oil makers could take out an enormous part of their water needs. WASTE AND OPPORTUNITY Flaring is a major issue in its own right. While oil slicks and treatment facility blasts get across the board media inclusion, flaring regularly figures out how to remain underneath the media radar, notwithstanding having extreme negative outcomes regarding contamination and comprising a colossal misuse of vitality. ;custompagebreak; The degree of the issue can be seen from satellite pictures of the Earths night side: flared gas makes splendid slices in meagerly settled zones from Northern Africa to North Dakota. Around 140 billion cubic meters of gaseous petrol was flared worldwide in 2012, which is the most recent year for which figures are accessible. That is 4 percent of worldwide creation or 20 percent of gas utilization in the United States. By any measuring stick this is a colossal misuse of vitality, and would be esteemed at over $50 billion at todays gaseous petrol costs. Flaring likewise represents more than 1 percent of worldwide carbon emanations. The U.S. has seen a fast increment in the measure of gas being flared, and now the nation is the fifth biggest flarer on the planet, behind Russia, Nigeria, Iran, and Iraq. Nearly 40 percent of the flaring in the U.S. happens in North Dakota, where it is evaluated that 33% of the gas created is flared, since the Bakken is fundamentally an oil play with gas having a minimal worth. Certain Bakken makers flare more than seventy five percent of the gas created. In Texas, the runner up flaring state, advancement of the Eagle Ford Shale expanded flaring by 400 percent from 2009 to 2012. Hawk Ford presently represents 54 percent of the flaring in Texas in spite of having just 3 percent of the states wells. One explanation that both the Bakken and the Eagle Ford fields produce so much squandered gas is the wide work there of water powered cracking. Subsequent to breaking and finishing another oil well, there is an underlying explosion of flammable gas, similar to the gas that bubbles out when you pop a soft drink can. Most oil wells in these districts don't have the framework set up to use or catch this gas, and flaring remains the main down to earth answer for arrange it off. Flared gas-controlled fume ingestion cycle for environmental water gathering: The water condenser draws dampness from the air; an auxiliary fluid assimilates the vanished refrigerant; a gas-fueled heater warms the answer for discharge the refrigerant as high-pressure fume. Different variables advance flaring as a choice. Texas makers, for example, don't pay eminences or charges on flared gas, and there are no limitations on flaring in North Dakota in the main year, when the greater part of the flaring really occurs. Late standards in North Dakota expect makers to have gas catch plans for new fields, yet it is dicey that guidelines alone will decrease flaring, since the greater part of flaring in North Dakota is from wells previously associated with gas-gathering framework. Flaring is a major botched chance for makers. The most compelling motivation for makers to sell oil and consume gas is that gas has a much lower an incentive than oil. However, there are developments that use flared gas to make esteem. WRINGING WATER FROM AIR Flared gas has been utilized for on location power age; in any case, this requires adequate on location request or access to the lattice. Extraction of gaseous petrol fluids (NGLs) from the gas stream is another choice that is polished in certain spots. Reinjection of gas to the store gives another option in contrast to flaring, however builds the expense of the undertaking. Later endeavors have considered the utilization of flared gas to treat the flowback water that follows fracking. While the rise of such advancements is empowering, the arrangements include costly framework which regularly lessens the financial bit of leeway of flared gas use ventures. Water, then again, is a bottleneck to oil extraction and is progressively more significant than power or NGLs. Furthermore, notably, there is a way to utilize flared gas to make water directly at the creation site. The arrangement is called environmental water reaping, or AWH. The thought is to tap the huge freshwater repository in moist air by gathering dampness on chilled surfaces utilizing a refrigeration cycle, like what occurs in a forced air system or a dehumidifier. This should be possible even in places that get next to no precipitation. Much like a fridge, be that as it may, the AWH procedure is very vitality serious. In reality, the expense of vitality has been the major issue for mechanical scale AWH. In the course of the most recent decade, for example, a few electric-controlled AWH units have been built up that are fit for collecting several gallons of water for every day. Be that as it may, the expense of the reaped water is in excess of 20 pennies for every gallon, which makes such collectors unfeasible for modern scale activity. Be that as it may, power isnt the best way to control refrigeration cycles. In places where power is problematic or restrictively costly, propane or lamp fuel controlled coolers are accessible. Essentially, an enormous scope AWH framework can be run utilizing gas (or some other vitality source, for example, daylight or wind). In a flammable gas controlled fume retention cooler, cooling is produced by dissipating a reasonable refrigerant in a heap of cylinders called an evaporator. The vanished refrigerant is then consumed by an optional fluid. The refrigerant-soaked arrangement is then warmed in the fume generator to discharge the refrigerant as high-pressure fume. This fume gathers noticeable all around cooled condenser, and the cycle proceeds. Petroleum gas from the wellhead that may some way or another be flared off can be taken care of to an evaporator (after treatment in a gas molding module). The steam produced in the evaporator would then be able to be utilized to discharge the refrigerant in the fume generator of the refrigeration cycle. ;custompagebreak; Fume assimilation fueled AWH has preferences over other refrigeration choices, for example, fume pressure and desiccant dehumidification. Figurings demonstrate that cooling by means of fume ingestion yields more water than contending technolog

6 Flight Instruments Pilots Need to Know
6 Flight Instruments Pilots Need to Know 6 Flight Instruments Pilots Need to Know There are six conventional flight instruments in most airplane cockpits. A large number of these instruments have taken on a progressively present day appearance after some time, yet even innovatively propelled airplane have customary instruments to use as back-ups in the event that the essential framework falls flat. The accompanying instruments make up whats called the six-pack in a customary cockpit where three instruments are stacked on three different instruments. These six fundamental flight instruments are the primary wellspring of cockpit flight data for pilots and are separated into two classes: static (or pitot-static) instruments and gyroscopic instruments. Static/Pitot-Static Instruments Velocity Indicator The velocity marker tells the pilot the demonstrated velocity in tangles (or at times, a Mach number). Velocity is some of the time likewise portrayed in obvious velocity, which is significant data for flight arranging. (Genuine velocity is the real speed of the plane comparable to the air and is remedied for temperature and thickness impacts. Its generally only a couple of bunches not the same as demonstrated velocity in little aircraft.) In a nutshell, the velocity pointer works by contrasting ram pneumatic stress from the pitot cylinder to static gaseous tension from at least one static ports. The stomach inside the instrument packaging estimates the weight differential and delineates it on the instrument pointer. Velocity pointers are shading coded so the pilot can undoubtedly recognize ranges, for example, the typical working extent, fold working reach, and alert range. Least and greatest paces, just as other significant paces (known as V-speeds), are set apart also. Altimeter The altimeter mirrors the airplanes vertical stature above MSL (mean ocean level) remedied for outside pneumatic stress. The pilot sets the suitable weight setting (a neighborhood setting for those flying beneath 18,000 feet), and the altimeter will portray the comparing elevation above MSL. The altimeter works like an essential gauge, by looking at the static weight within a fixed aneroid container to the growing or contracting pressure encompassing it. At the point when the plane rises or slides, the pneumatic stress will diminish or increment, separately. This outside pneumatic force is continually being contrasted with the weight inside the aneroid container, and with the assistance of linkage and a pointer, the height is shown on the cockpit instrument. Vertical Speed Indicator Vertical speed is the pace of the airplanes climb or plummet, typically delineated in feet every moment (fpm) on a vertical speed indicator (VSI). In level flight, the VSI needle focuses to 0 feet. The VSI works by estimating and contrasting the static weight within an expandable container to the metered static weight outside of the case. The weight inside the container changes rapidly as the plane ascensions or drops, while the weight outside of the case changes gradually because of the metered spill. During climbs and plummets, the case packs or extends, individually. The weight contrast is estimated and connected to the pointer, where its portrayed on the instrument face. The VSI is important in deciding whether the plane is climbing or plummeting and the pace of the trip or slide. There can be a slight slack in data portrayed on the VSI if the airplane is moved unexpectedly. In disturbance, the signs can be somewhat flighty. Gyroscopic Instruments Disposition Indicator The disposition marker is perhaps the most significant instrument for pilots. In one look, a pilot can tell if the airplane is climbing, plunging, turning or straight and level. It gives an immediate sign of changes to pitch mentality and bank. The demeanor marker comprises of an aviation instrument that is a foundation for a smaller than normal plane. The instrument is intended to portray the sky (normally blue in shading) and the ground (ordinarily earthy colored), with a little plane situated on the aviation instrument (a white line) in level flight. As a rule, the smaller than normal plane is appended to the instrument seeing case, and it moves with the plane. The aviation instrument detects development from the gyrator and stays suspended according to a self-raising spinner, which holds its situation concerning the real skyline. The spinner itself can be vacuum-driven or electric. Heading Indicator A fundamental device for route, the heading pointer gives directional data to the pilot like the manner in which an attractive compass does. The heading marker itself isn't north-chasing however can delineate an exact heading when adjusted to an attractive compass. The heading marker is a gyroscopic instrument and can be vacuum-driven or electrically fueled. As the airplane turns left or right, the heading marker will change to portray another heading somewhere in the range of zero and 359 degrees on a compass card. A smaller than expected airplane is situated in the focal point of the marker and turns with the plane while the spinner (and agreeing linkage) turn the compass card on the instrument. In a left turn, the scaled down plane seems to turn left while the compass card turns right. Turn Coordinator The turn organizer is another gyroscopic instrument that can be either electric or vacuum-driven. Its probably the most straightforward instrument, with a smaller than normal plane that plunges its wings somehow to show the pace of turn or rate or roll. At the point when a pilot folds the plane into a turn, the scaled down plane rapidly shows a relating roll. There are tick blemishes on the instrument that are aligned to portray a standard rate turn for a plane (a 360-degree standard-rate turn takes two minutes). The turn organizer likewise incorporates an inclinometer, which is a ball suspended in a liquid that responds like a pendulum during turning flight. The ball demonstrations in light of gravity and turning powers and will delineate an organized or awkward turn. The pilot would then be able to check a clumsy turn with the utilization of rudder development, dodging a slipping or sliding turn.

Follow-up on Seth Godin ( Networking) From Yesterday
Follow-up on Seth Godin ( Networking) From Yesterday Yesterday was a fun day, although the people I was with are all bloggers and I think I saw more than one sign of withdrawal from not being by an Internet connection for more than seven hours! Im not going to put any notes about Seth Godins presentation here because (a) I didnt take any (!!), and (b) there are a ton that Ill link to at the end of this post. Great notes, videos, pics, etc. It was interesting to see the comments from yesterdays post that I titled Im Not Going To See Seth Godin Because they ranged from ya! Right on! to I agree that $50 is too much and unaffordable. I dont disagree with that at all there is no way I was going to pay $50 to do something like this last year. In fact, there are opportunities every week for me to drop $50 on network things here locally that I choose not to do because I dont think the speaker or crowd merits it. However, there are ways to be creative about it Ill share one way to get in for free: Find out who the sponsors are (it shouldnt be hard its usually plastered all over the marketing materials) Network your way into that company Find a decision maker and begin to develop a relationship (remember, it just starts with hi.) Let them know that you are in transition, or that you arent in a position to drop $50, but youd really, really like to go, and do you have an extra tickets that I could have? (or something like that) Obviously, you have to get over the pride thing a little, but I knew the sponsors at this event, and I knew they were scrambling to get all their tickets out! The presentation was awesome, the networking was awesome. It was way cool. So heres my recap. Weeks with lots of work (not me, I was pretty busy with JibberJobber stuff but was ccd on all the coordination e-mails) paid off big time. Seths presentation was awesome. Towards the end of the QA session he asked who wanted to do the book signing, and who wanted to continue QA. About 1% wanted to do the book signing, so we got another 20 minutes or so with QA. Ive never seen a more diverse set of questions, and he answered them masterfully. Ive heard people say (and Seth has also) that Seths blog is where he writes about obvious stuff, and it isnt worth reading. After hearing him for almost 90 minutes yesterday I have a new appreciation for his perspective and thoughts, and dont see his blog as just pointing out the obvious anymore. He wowed me. This is the wordmob team that worked to get Seth here: Here are links to various things that can give you a better feel for what we experienced: Ash Buckles, CTO of BridesClub.com is the biggest Seth Godin fan I know. He had his head shaved by Seth Godin: see it on flicker Steve Spencer, owner of Twelve Horses (which was a major sponsor) had a huge role in this event. HUGE thanks to Steve for being involved and all the work he did to make this happen. You can see him here with Ash (I think Steve did some follow-up shaving on Ashs head: see it on flicker and here are 11 seconds of Ashs fame on YouTube. Phil Windley, local tech superstar took some great notes and has some excellent pictures here. Phil801, one of the founding members of WordMob and owner of TagJungle, with a recap on the day and his mishaps getting Seth back to the airport (pretty funny! Thanks to Jimmy Zimmerman and Brian Corrales for essentially saving the day!!). Chris Knudsen, who has said he isnt blogging for the summer (but seems to blog more than normal :p) has some great notes in an easy-to-read bullet format. Quick comments from the Buzz Booster team on the event (thanks for the photo I stole :p). Finally, true to her name, the NewsPaperGrl has multiple posts broken out into subjects (all of these came out of the presentation): Utah Bloggers Chime in on Seth Godinââ¬â¢s Visit Recommended Books from Seth Godin If Seth Godin was a Teacher I Saw Seth Godinââ¬â¢s Socks Today Thats it for this week have an excellent weekend! Office Etiquette What Not To Do
Office Etiquette â" What Not To Do Happy Monday, everyone! Iâm sure youâre wondering who I am and what Iâm going to discuss as a new columnist for your favorite blog, Ms. Career Girl. So hereâs the 411: My nameâs Meghan and Iâm a 23-year-old public affairs workaholic and political mastermind in the making. I come from a teeny, yet amazing town in Southern Maryland, home of the 10 oz. Bud Light and National Oyster Shucking Championship. Iâm sure you can imagine the change of pace and eye-opening experiences Iâve endured since I moved to Washington, D.C.â¦. where most people are a not-so-well blended mix of genius and crazy. While it is widely agreed that Monday is the suckiest day of the entire week, Iâm hoping I can make it better, just a little, by sharing my stories and advice as a young professional learning the ropes and climbing the ladder of success. Now that you know me, I think itâs time to let Operation: To The Top commence: As young pros, we probably have a lot of time before we land our dream job.You know, the job where you boss everyone around and your salary could support your third home on your private island. In the meantime, there will be a lot of things you wish you had the power to change⦠like your coworkers. Thereâs nothing worse than a coworker you canât stand. The loud eater. The bad joker. The no deodorant wearer. The list goes on and on. For me, I canât stand the egotistical, self absorbed âendurance athleteâ who insults you on their first day at the office. While sweet karma ultimately has a way of dealing with these people, it takes a lot of fist clenching and tongue biting to get through the day. Patience is key. I donât like patience. I tend to practice visible aggravation and irritation â" often confused with symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome. Anyways, in case your coworkers are like me, here are a few guidelines to follow if you want to be well-liked: Donât eat food that isnât yours. If itâs in the refrigerator, itâs safe to assume someone was saving it for later. Donât play your music loud enough for others to hear. While Iâm a fan, bluegrass all day is a little much. Donât sneak out at lunch to practice your bowling skills prior to a company bowling night. Yes, that actually happened. Do have a filter. No one wants to hear about the details of your kidâs failed attempt at potty training. Do keep your hands to yourself. Interoffice dating is awkward. For everyone. Do send someone a puppy picture if theyâre having a bad day. Who doesnât love puppies? If you abide by these guidelines you may not be the office favorite, but at least you wonât be the reason someone wants to poke out their eyeballs. I want to learn from you, too! What are your office etiquette peeves?
